Grants available to help artists tour Victoria’s regions
Artists and creative organisations across north-east Victoria are being assisted to hit the road and take their performances, exhibitions and events to new regional audiences.
The touring Victoria program provides grants of between $10,000 and $250,000 to support tours by Victorian arts and cultural organisations, and creatives.
The state government program aims to deliver unique and creative productions and performances to regional locations.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said it was a great program and had called for applications.
“We’re supporting our creative community to hit the road and re-connect with audiences across the state, delivering the cultural experiences that make Victoria our nations cultural heartland,” Ms Symes said.
“Touring Victoria not only brings amazing gigs and experiences to (north-east) Victoria, it supports our local creatives to present their work, build their audiences and bring visitors from across the state.”
The most recent round of grants supported regional tours from such diverse acts as singer Kutcha Edwards, all-female circus-comedy show — Trash Test Dummies, The Australian Ballet, Finucane and Smith and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
This new program means that audiences in north-east Victoria can expect even more of the best live theatre, music and cultural events up ahead.
Touring productions also provide an economic boost to the towns and regions they visit.
The 2022 round of the program will support touring activity that hits the road from November 1. Applications close on July 14. For more information including program guidelines, eligibility and how to apply, visit creative.vic.gov.au/grants-and-support
