The Suns sit sixth on the table and find themselves well placed to better that position against the ninth-placed White Eagles.
Tonight is not the first time these two sides have met, having played a 2-2 draw in the opening round of the season.
The Suns’ round 17 match comes off the back of a 2-1 loss against Moreland City, which ended their unbeaten run of five games.
Forward magician Alou Kuol continued his dazzling form and defender Greg Nash was working his way back to match fitness.
Kuol (12 goals) now leads the way in attack for the Orangemen with excitement, while Nash played out the full 90 minutes against City — bolstering the side’s defence.
‘‘Obviously we didn’t get any points last week, which was unfortunate, but we’ve been steadily improving,’’ Suns coach Craig Carley said.
‘‘I’ve been really impressed with our performances in the past four or five weeks.
‘‘But we won’t underestimate Springvale, we are cautious of their strengths.
‘‘They are a very physical side that like to be quick on counter transitions and we’ll need to focus on that defensively.’’
For the Suns, Carley knows his side needs to get back to the form which saw them clinch strong victories against St Albans and Ballarat.
‘‘We need to carry on what we’ve been doing well,’’ he said.
‘‘That is, being disciplined in our team shape and working hard in the attacking third to create opportunities.’’
The Suns have made one change for tonight, with Willie Sauiluma dropping back down to the under-20s to make way for Zach Balaburov.
●The Suns’ under-20s walked away with a point against Moreland City and are placed in the same position on the ladder as their senior counterparts.
Springvale White Eagles (seventh) sit three points behind the Orangemen on the table and will bring plenty of fire-power in order to topple the sixth-placed Suns.
Elijah Brooker has scored eight goals this campaign and will be valuable up front for the home side as they look to return to the winner’s list.
The under-20s kick off at 5pm, before the seniors take to the field at 7pm.
