And she is "incredibly excited“ to share her music with the Deniliquin community this weekend, as part of the South West Music live music series.
“It’s the stuff of dreams to do a tour in the Riverina and I can’t wait to get back there,” she told the Pastoral Times earlier this week.
“I used to visit Deni as a kid, so returning to do a show is very personal to me.”
After a tough two years for music education and performance in regional areas, Geddes felt it was important to work with regional conservatoriums on this album tour.
“South West Music is doing really amazing things in the community, and they have been so wonderful to host us for a workshop and performance,” said Geddes.
“Growing up in Griffith, when someone from out of town would come to perform or teach it was an opportunity to see and hear things I hadn’t heard before.
“It had a huge impact on me, and is part of the reason I can say I’m a working musician now.”
Geddes hopes her performance will resonate with the Deniliquin community and introduce them to a new sound.
“I’m thrilled to be able to take my music home and perform it not only in the places that inspired me, but before the communities and people who have shaped me,” she said.
“It’s been an interesting exercise for me, figuring how you evoke place in sound.
“Some of the things we do as a band is quite literal, evoking a sound of nature for example, but a lot of it is about a feeling and that’s all to do with which chord you play at what time and things like that.
“Hopefully I will bring a performance that people will resonate with and introduce them to something they maybe haven’t heard before.”
The performance will be hosted at the Deniliquin SWM Regional Conservatoruim - at 214 Cressy St - this Saturday. Doors open at 6pm, for a 7pm start.
