Golfers have enjoyed pleasant autumn golfing conditions and the course is in excellent condition.
The action continues with a stroke event for the monthly medal on tomorrow, followed by the popular 9 holes ambrose off the gold tees on Sunday. Team entry is $40, with shotgun start at noon.
On completion there will be live music from 3pm and the bistro open all day. Book online or at the pro shop.
On Monday, Deniliquin Golf Club will host the Goulburn Valley Veterans Golf Association for its annual visit.
Numbers are uncertain due to the fuel crisis, so all Deni GV vets members are encouraged to play.
Next Tuesday is 9 holes stableford shoot-out qualifier, Wednesday is stableford, Thursday will be 2-person multiplier stableford and Saturday is versus par for the Bruce Laing Cup.
Last Thursday was stroke, won by Karen Butcher with net 71 from runner-up Prue Lloyd 74.
Saturday was stableford, with men playing for the coveted Borella Cup. This was won by Jamie Counsell with an excellent 43 points, and he also won D-grade.
The A-grade winner was captain John Radeski with 37 points from runner-up Peter Astill 36, B-grade winner Sarah Lugsdin 37 from runner-up John Wacheke 36, C-grade Dan Wade 37 from runner-up Oliver Dellwo 36, and D grade runner-up was Jack Eastman with 41 points.
On Tuesday it was 9 holes stroke on the front, won by Leanne Mulham with 33 net from Mardi Chartres 36.5.
In glorious conditions on Wednesday there were some good scores, with at least 40 points needed to win each grade.
A-grade winner was Jackson Campbell on 40 points from runner-up Peter Joice 36; B-grade winner Bryan Bennett 40 from runner-up Toby Rae 39, and C-grade winner Angus Knuckey 43 from runner-up Bentley Hardman 41.
There was also excitement on the course over Easter, with two players recording a hole-in-one during social rounds.
The first was achieved by Geelong visitor Sean Blood, who hit a 5-wood on the 11th that went sailing towards the green and rolled into the hole, to give Sean his first ‘ace’ in 40 years of golfing.
The second was to one of our many improving juniors in Angus Knuckey.
Playing on Tuesday in a social round the promising junior struck an iron shot to the 5th green, where the ball landed just past the hole and screwed back into the cup, much to his delight and the cheers of his playing partners.
Congratulations to both golfers.
