Running from November 10 to 16, the campaign, Join the Cycle, calls on councils, workplaces, schools and households to build better recycling habits, reduce consumption and make the most of existing resources.
Residents can take part in recycling-themed events, test their recycling knowledge using Planet Ark resources, learn about emerging recycling technologies and policies, and explore local options for recycling items ranging from batteries to textiles.
Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Scott Jeffery said the week was an opportunity for everyone to rethink what they threw away and how they used everyday resources.
“Recycling correctly helps keep valuable resources in use and reduces the amount of waste going to landfill,” Cr Jeffery said.
“We encourage everyone to take a moment to check what belongs in each bin, look for opportunities to repair or reuse items, and think carefully before buying something new.
“When we all make small, informed choices, they add up to a cleaner and more sustainable future for our community.”
Residents can also take part in free activities across the shire during the week, including a movie screening and drop-in recycling information sessions.
