To mark R U OK? Day, Kurrajong delivered large paper flowers and R U OK? ribbons and mini flags to people in the Deniliquin CBD as a gesture of good will.
“We are giving them out around town because we want people to be aware that it’s important to talk to people, and it’s okay to ask for help,” Kurrajong staff member Anne Mercer said.
“Everyone at Kurrajong pitched in to make the flowers, ribbons and flags.”
R U OK? is a national suicide prevention charity which encourages people to stay connected and have conversations that can help others through difficult times.
It contributes to suicide prevention efforts by encouraging people to invest more time in their personal relationships and building the capacity of informal support networks – friends, family and colleagues.
It also raises awareness of being alert to those around them, have a conversation if they identify signs of distress or difficulty and connect someone to appropriate support, long before they're in crisis.
That is the aim of the annual R U OK? Day, although the organisation says it’s a question that should be asked every day.
