Labor’s candidate for Indi, Nadia David, tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, May 1.
“After a full week of community candidate forums and travelling all over the electorate, I tested positive after a routine rapid antigen test on Sunday morning,” Ms David said.
“I notified close contacts and the candidates with whom I attended the Alexandra Community Forum on Friday night and have received kind messages of support from them all. At the moment, I feel like I have a cold and I’m hoping that’s as serious as the symptoms get.
“I am extremely grateful I have been fortunate enough to receive three vaccinations and I fully expect my brush with COVID will be relatively mild as a result.
“If anyone has any doubts about getting the third vaccination, or any vaccination, I urge you take this virus seriously and protect yourself from serious illness.
“Our hospitals, nurses and doctors will thank you for not needing hospitalisation.
“I’ll be isolating at home for seven days in line with Victorian Government requirements and hope I can keep campaigning online. This is just the reality of living with COVID during this election.”
