Land acquisition for stormwater drainage at Grahamvale

According to council documents, the land is part of the Shepparton North East Precinct, comprising 177ha of developable land able to accommodate up to 1500 new residential properties.

The precinct is expected to take two to three decades to develop.

At its February meeting council resolved to take steps to acquire, by agreement or compulsory acquisition, part of the land at 240 Ford Rd, Grahamvale.

“It’s something that needs to be done so we can progress with our development in that region,” Cr Dinny Adem said.

Cr Geoff Dobson added it would be pleasing for people who had an interest in the area.

“It’s the first step on a long road of steps, and when you look at the map there’s a lot of residential properties already in the vicinity — we look forward to the growth of the area,” he said.

The land is set to be independently valued as part of the compensation process and Cr Fern Summer noted there was no limit included in the motion on what that could be.
