Mr Frauenfelder served Australia in the second tour of the fifth battalion as a soldier, during the Vietnam war.
Since his passing 17 years ago, Mrs Frauenfelder said Legacy legatee Brian Cossar had been supporting her with whatever she needed help with.
“Anything that needs doing, Legacy is on call,” Mrs Frauenfelder said.
“Smoke alarm battery changes, mowing the lawns, or anything really, they come and help out.”
Mrs Frauenfelder said although Ray and Brian didn’t know each other well, Brian became her legatee from the moment she became a war widow.
“Brian never hesitates to come around, fix things up and pay for things to be fixed, and has done so for many years” she said.
Until September 6, the Cobram/Yarrawonga Legacy group will raise funds for families of those who have sacrificed their lives or health in service to Australia.
Volunteers will be around local supermarkets and newsagencies collecting donations, selling badges and teddy bears to raise money for families effected by war.
Legacy also assists with community engagement programs, advocacy, counselling, financial assistance, and support for children’s education.
President legatee Leon West said the non-for-profit had supported families for the last one hundred and two years.
“We remain tirelessly dedicated to understanding the needs of families impacted by the mental and physical injuries of their loved ones who have served our country,” Mr West said.
Every dollar raised helps Legacy provide tailored, professional support to the families of veterans when they need it most.
