The Let’s Find Our Voice program brings together Year 7 students and local community members to form a choir that is as much about connection as it is about performance.
Hosted by Arts Captain Archer Perrin and Year 11 student Freya Mount, the evening opened with an Acknowledgement of Country and a welcome from principal Joseph Mount.
“This year’s college theme is companionship, and I can think of no better example of true companionship in action than this extraordinary project,” he said.
“To witness our Year 7 students form friendships with people they had never met before through music, song and conversation is remarkable.
“Each member of the community choir has shown great courage in accepting the invitation to find out more about themselves and one another.
“We all grow so much stronger when we feel supported – when we are together.”
The evening featured a rich and moving program, including performances by the choir and solo pieces from Mia Rieusset, who performed A Million Dreams, Emily Snell, singing Right as Rain, and Kieran Smith, who sang My Way.

A segment of the night included students reading and presenting memoirs — including a tribute to Barry and Margaret Reardon, reflecting on their life together, and a deeply personal reflection by Shaun Jones.

One of the highlights was an impromptu surprise performance of Drift Away by acclaimed local musician and FCJ College youth worker Adam Toms.
The concert also featured the premiere of FCJ College’s 125th Anniversary Film.
To close the evening, the full choir and band delivered a finale — a medley of Mamma Mia, Stayin’ Alive, and I Will Survive.
Special thanks were offered to Mrs Catherine Burton and Mr Adam Toms.
“What sets this project apart is the unwavering dedication and vision of Catherine and Adam,” Mr Mount said.
“Their ability to bring people together, to inspire both staff and students, is truly remarkable.
“Without them, this concert would have a rather different flavour.
“Their leadership is generous, passionate, and deeply appreciated — we owe so much of this success to both Catherine and Adam.”
