Benalla Rural City Council has announced the reopening of the Link Island Footbridge, which is now fully repaired and ready for use by the community.
The footbridge, a vital connector to the Lake Benalla walking track, had been closed since sustaining significant damage during recent floods.
Mayor Bernie Hearn, was happy with the project’s completion, highlighting its importance to the community.
“This footbridge is an important piece of infrastructure for Benalla Rural City, offering access to the Lake Benalla walking track,” Cr Hearn said.
“It is great to see it completed and reopened for everyone to use and enjoy.”
The reconstruction of the footbridge was made possible through financial support from the Victorian Government’s Council Flood Support Fund.
Local company, Waratah Bridge Constructions, oversaw the repairs, delivering high-quality results that will serve Benalla’s community for years to come.
“We thank Waratah Bridge Constructions for their work on this project,” Cr Hearn said.
“Residents and visitors alike are invited to enjoy the fully restored link to the Lake Benalla walking track.”
