Lions and Rotary save the day after local aged care home loses power

Staff immediately called the local Rotary and Lions clubs, both of which responded, arriving with their barbecues shortly thereafter.

Lions Club member Graham Milner said being there for the community in this type of situation was exactly what local service clubs were all about.

“We’ve stepped in to supply them with our barbecues so that the cooks from Estia can prepare the meals for their clients,” he said.

“Estia need to supply lots of meals, hence the need for both clubs to help out.

“It will be the Estia kitchen staff doing the cooking, we’re just supplying the barbecues.

“We had to hurry up, but we got here in time.

“But helping out the community, when it’s in need, is the most important aspect of what we do.”
