In a special ceremony held in Deniliquin last week, Mrs Dalton presented a series of Community Recognition Statements to people from the Edward River, Murrumbidgee, and Berrigan Shire council areas.
The Community Recognition Statements congratulate or acknowledge the achievements of people or groups in the community which recognise charity work, retirement or honours and awards.
Mrs Dalton initially introduces each recipient to NSW Parliament in short sittings throughout the year.
She then visits communities to highlight the good work further and to present certificates to those honoured.
Recipients honoured last week included Murrumbidgee Council Mayor Ruth McRae, Finley Regional Care, the Finley-based Southern Riverina Wellbeing Collective and Tocumwal Vietnam War veteran Alf Grayson.
From the Edward River Council area, Community Recognition Statements were presented to Karen Bobeldyk, John Beer and Rivah Taylor.
Mrs Dalton’s speeches to Parliament for each of the Edward River Council recipients are as follows:
Karen Bobeldyk
Karen has been committed to her career at the Deniliquin Health Service for 53 years.
As an administrator, she has always been the first point of contact for all hospital patients.
Karen began work in administration in 1970, at only 24 years of age.
Her love for her work shone through as her kind presence ensured everyone felt cared for and comfortable.
During her many years of work, she has witnessed the amazing progress of technology.
After over five decades, Karen has finally bid farewell to her colleagues and patients.
Now stepping into retirement, Karen is planning on continuing to help people through volunteer work.
Karen is an asset to the local community. Her dedication and benevolence to the Deniliquin Health Service benefitted her colleagues and the entire Deni community.
She has been awarded a Certificate of Outstanding Service for her decades of hard work.
Mrs Bobeldyk’s contribution to the hospital will always be remembered. Her colleagues and patients will miss her greatly; however, her legacy will continue.
John Beer
I would like to recognise and congratulate John Beer for his significant service contribution to the Mayrung Fire Brigade.
John has recently been awarded a lifetime membership of the brigade after 60 years of service.
His dedication has helped to ensure the safety of Mayrung and district peoples, livestock and property.
This sense of community is reflected in the Beer family’s long-term involvement as members of the Mayrung Fire Brigade, which is a magnificent effort!
I extend my best wishes to John and his wife, Lorraine, for this outstanding community service.
Rivah Taylor
I would like to recognise Rivah Taylor, a nine year-old (now 10) rising golf star from Deniliquin North Public School, for her remarkable achievements during her short time in the sport of golf.
Rivah’s journey in golf began with her dad, Ross Taylor, and since then, she’s been inseparable from the golf course.
After her performance in the Riverina Golf Championship, she was selected as a member of the Riverina Golf team, where she represented our region at the NSW PSSA Golf Championships in Batemans Bay.
Despite facing challenges, Rivah’s resilience and determination shone through, embodying the spirit of a young athlete.
Rivah’s commitment to improving her skills, including regular practice at Deniliquin Golf Club and seeking guidance from mentors, showcases her dedication to sport.
I would again like to commend Rivah Taylor for her outstanding achievements and look forward to her continued success in the golfing world.
