A-grade had a tough encounter against Whorouly this week but, while going down by six goals (42-48), played some really great netball.
Rhi Teichert was back to her best, reading the play well and creating a high number of turnover opportunities for the side.
Georgia Spencer was solid in shooting again this week and combined well in the ring with Alara.
Once again, the girls worked hard all game but a few unforced errors at critical moments meant they were unable to pull off the win.
B-grade
B-grade needed to get a win on the board this week to break into the top six, and the girls had a good first quarter which set them up for the remainder of the match.
Sally Burgess was once again brilliant in goals, shooting and moving well to make good positions.
Kellie Holmes also played a great game, providing the team with plenty of drive and solid connections over the court.
Young gun Jessie Ellis, who stepped up this week to help out the side, put on a fine display taking a number of intercepts and getting her hands to plenty of the ball.
Final score: 52 to 34.
B-reserve
B-reserve started the game strongly despite the girls being nervous out on court.
All Blacks controlled the game from the start but threw away multiple passes and did not reward each other’s efforts on court.
Going into three-quarter-time Benalla was up 31 to 19, however multiple errors in the last quarter allowed Whorouly to come back and it looked as though the All Blacks may have been in for a loss.
However, the girls were able to bring it back together in the last moments and end the game with the win, 39-33.
Once again Chelsea Mackinnon and Briana McNair worked well together in the goal ring, continually moving and creating space for the attackers to easily feed in to them.
Mia Begley kept pressure on down the court and shut down her player in the last quarter.
Under-17
The girls started a little slowly, but in the main kept up with Whorouly.
Sarah Kilpatrick played consistently and strongly again this week with her dodging, leads and feeding into the ring.
Grace Bekins’ shooting accuracy is continually improving each week and is showing on the scoreboard.
Mel Reaper, always playing smart, was assisting the younger girls in the team down the shooting end, with her accuracy also on point this week.
Unfortunately, the girls fell short in the end due to bad passes and silly mistakes, giving them lots to focus on in training.
Under-15
The Under-15s started the first half of the game strongly.
Coming into the second half, the team couldn’t maintain its plays.
Mia Rhodes-Orton has been working really hard at training and that showed at the weekend.
Caitlin Timmers has been amazing in defence. Gemma Matheison works hard every game and this week was no different.
