Moama cemetery works commence

Upgrade works at the Moama cemetery have now commenced, with construction expected to be completed within six weeks.

The works will include the construction of a new lawn area, upgraded access roads, improvements to drainage and landscaping.

The works aim to improve accessibility, functionality and the overall presentation of the cemetery.

Changed traffic conditions within the cemetery will be in place during the construction period.

Visitors are asked to follow all signage and traffic controls to ensure the safety of workers and the community.

Murray River Council Mayor John Harvie said the project reflected council’s commitment to maintaining important community spaces with care and respect.

“Our cemeteries are places of reflection and remembrance, and it’s important they are safe, accessible and well maintained,” he said.

“We thank the community for their patience while these improvements are carried out and encourage visitors to take note of the temporary traffic changes during the works.”

Council said it appreciated the community’s understanding while these upgrades were completed.
