The reconstruction of Murray St in Finley in progressing, with the new mid-block pedestrian crossing now open for use.
This means the existing crossing at the intersection will now be closed.
The new crossing will be supported with signage and temporary line marking.
Pedestrian arrows will be placed at the old crossing to help guide foot traffic.
The new crossing is part of stage two of the $10 million upgrade of the Newell Highway in Finley’s town centre (more commonly known as Murray St in the CBD) which started in July.
The work also includes upgrades to footpaths, stormwater and water mains, and accessibility upgrades.
These works are being carried out by Berrigan Shire Council, who will also complete landscaping in this stage.
Completion of this stage is expected to trigger the third and final stage, which will be the final road surfacing of parking bays and the Pinnuck St intersection.
Stage one, delivered by Transport for NSW in May, consisted of road reconstruction.
