Launched in February, the website serves as a high performance ‘digital front door’ for visitors exploring the region.
Designed to streamline the path from inspiration to booking, the platform directly supports local businesses by driving overnight stays and increasing visitor expenditure across the local economy.
Federation Council, owner and manager of the North of the Murray destination brand, partnered with Australian destination marketing platform, Roam, to build and design the website.
Mayor Cheryl Cook said winning a Gold Award cemented national recognition that the new tourism website was an exceptional representation of the North of the Murray brand.
"Up against top tier competitors in the digital travel space, we are thrilled that the dedication and vision of our tourism team have been recognised at this level," Cr Cook said.
"This website is doing vital work connecting travellers directly with our towns, villages and local businesses."
Evolution 7 Founder, Mack Nevill said Federation Council had shown what a regional council could achieve with a confident brand and the right platform behind it.
"It's been a great collaboration with their team bringing North of the Murray to life online, with a mobile first experience that captures the distinct character of the region," Mr Nevill said.
"Securing Gold is a testament to what's possible when smart design meets regional ambition."
The North of the Murray website now progresses to the Australian Design Awards, announced on January 11 and if successful, the platform will advance to the World Design Awards on January 22.
