Nutrien back to Do It For Dolly again

Last year the community helped Nutrien Ag Solution raised almost $4000 for Do It For Dolly Day, and the team is asking for support to donate even more this year.

Nutrien will host its second Dolly Day breakfast barbecue outside the Davidson St branch next Friday, May 10 from 6am to 9am.

Delicious bacon and egg rolls will be on offer, with all proceeds going to support the Dolly’s Dream foundation.

Dolly’s Dream is committed to changing the culture of bullying by addressing the impact of bullying, anxiety, depression and youth suicide, through education and direct support to young people and families.

You can also donate by using the QR code on page 16, where you will notice Nutrien have chosen to replace their corporate colours with blue for the next two weeks.

Young trip for car club

Deniliquin District Veteran & Vintage Car Club are headed off today for their latest trip.

Club president Val Maher said 34 members would be taking part in the four day Young excursion.

They will cover about 400km, travelling via Narrandera, Coolamon and Temora.

In Young the members will visit the sites, including the old railway station, art gallery, historical museum, Mad Harry’s Collectables, the Chinese tribute gardens, wineries, the dam and Poppa’s Fudge and Jam Factory.

There will also be lots to see at Harden, Grenfell, Cowra and Greenthorpe.

Clean up thanks

Fourteen people volunteered to assist with Saturday's cemetery clean up.

Fourteen people pulled on their gloves and volunteered for the Friends of the Cemetery and Rotary Club of Deniliquin cemetery clean up on Saturday.

The clean up covered tasks not normally carried out by Edward River Council’s maintenance team, and included the removal of fallen leaves.

Friends of the Cemetery volunteer June Campbell said the group managed to do a lot of good during the morning.

“On behalf of our group and the Rotary Club of Deniliquin, I would like to thank all those wonderful people who came and gave us a hand,” June said.

“It was a great job done by all.

“We also wish to think Rotary and Riverina Funerals for organising the barbecue.”

June said the Friends of the Cemetery would be organising another working bee for the spring, but said any help between working bees to maintain the cemetery is always welcome.

Ladies Day at Blighty

Ladies, gather your friends and head out to Blighty for a great day of socialising and sporting action tomorrow.

The Colour Me Pink - Ladies Day also doubles as a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Network Australia.

Players will showcase a sea of pink with socks, scrunchies and/or arm bands.

Spectators and attendees are also encouraged to wear a touch of pink.

The special event for the ladies will be hosted in the netball clubrooms. You can enjoy great company, finger food, drinks and raffles.

But the men don’t miss out - head on out to Blighty meet your mates over at the footy and enjoy a catch up.

The Picola League round six action against Tocumwal begins with junior netball and football in the morning and continues all day, with Ladies Day officially starting at 2pm.

Cost is $20 per person, and you get a complimentary drink and raffle ticket on arrival. Further raffle tickets will be available to purchase.
