Millions of years have allowed nature to perfect a unique fertiliser that is becoming popular with farmers who are wanting to transition away from chemical use toward organic fertilising of their soils.

The nutrient-filled granulated products are mined on Madura Island in Indonesia in a unique partnership with Guano Australia Fertilisers.
The company’s chief executive officer John Jashar described the fertilisers as unique stand-alone options for farmers.
“The product works in both fast and slow-release methods,” Mr Jashar said.
“When the plant needs the nutrient, it takes it up and the rest remains in the soil in an available form.
“It’s almost like it is a drip feed system.”
The products contain no nitrogen due to leeching over millennia, having been first laid down as the faeces of pre-historic ocean birds.
“It is most authentic because of the composition of it and the combination of the phosphorus, calcium and silica together in combination.”
The supply partnership has been a 33-year success story since the company was first launched, with the product sold across Australia and into New Zealand.
The fertiliser has a finite source, which Mr Jashar said would last about another three decades.
“It is very much a speciality product,” he said.
“Farmers more than ever are wanting to get away from synthetic chemical fertiliser.
“The demand is building up virtually every day of the week.”
