Environmental science teachers Jenna Barratt and Katrina Jung have developed a comprehensive program for the students from Prep to Year 6, which encompasses many projects within the local community.
A school spokesperson said that in addition to the tree planting, senior students had also spent time contributing to the local community garden and explored the ‘nature play’ program with children from Violet Town Kindergarten.
“Students will soon be participating in ‘The Big Flush’ incursion, run by Goulburn Valley Water,” the spokesperson said.
“As a rural school, with three unique campuses, learning about the environment is a valued and much-loved part of the curriculum at Peranbin Primary College.
“School vegetable gardens, science experiments, nature play and real-life applications of their learning ensure these country kids are building a love of their land.”
Next term, students will be participating in the Soil Week Australia competition and will also be creating a new garden bed using native plants from the Euroa Arboretum.
If you would like your child to be part of these unique learning opportunities, contact the Peranbin Primary College front office on 5798 1431 to book a tour of the school or inquire about enrolment.
