Pillars of support for OzChild SafeCare

A partnership between Greater Shepparton Foundation, McColl’s Transport and The Athlete’s Foot is supporting children and young people through the 2022 OzChild SafeCare program.

OzChild works to support young people in foster and kinship care, with a focus on keeping families together where possible.

The SafeCare campaign provides Christmas hampers for families participating in the family preservation program, recognising the challenges faced by the region’s families at this time of year.

In addition to the annual hardships that Christmas amplifies, the impact of flooding across the region, coupled with the cost-of-living inflation, has put extra pressure on struggling households.

Greater Shepparton Foundation executive officer Amanda McCulloch said the Christmas initiative between the three organisations was a “perfect fit” to support the Greater Shepparton community.

“Alongside a generous donation of shoes from Shepparton Athlete’s Foot, plus $2000 from the Community Flood Recovery Campaign, the McColl’s Transport hamper items will alleviate the pressures felt by the many families that rely on the services and hampers provided by OzChild each year,” Ms McCulloch said.

A truck full of hamper items delivered by McColl’s Transport was due to arrive in Shepparton on Monday, December 12.
