Emergency services were called to the Hume Fwy, near the intersection of Lambing Gully Rd, after a truck went down an embankment and crashed into trees about 1pm on Wednesday, July 30.
The truck caught fire following the crash.
The driver, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
Officers are working to establish the circumstances of the crash.
The Hume Fwy was closed for several hours as emergency services attended the incident.
It has since reopened.
