Without the amazing work of CFA volunteers, things could have been much worse.
To thank all those wonderful people, local community members have arranged a Rock n Roast night in Benalla to say thank you, and to raise as much money as possible to help with the recovery effort.
An event spokesperson said everyone involved, including catering, venue and musicians, was giving their services completely free of charge.
Tickets for the event will be $50.
“That $50 ticket will include a complimentary drink on arrival, donated by Travla Beer,” the spokesperson said.
“You will also get a delicious carvery roast dinner from Goldhammer Catering and entertainment from two local bands, Rattler and 2 Easy Duo.
“Tickets are available through the not-for-profit Humanitix or directly from Goldhammer Catering.
“There will be raffles and an auction on the night, with prizes including the cost of obtaining a medium rigid truck licence donated by 1 stop training centre, three nights’ accommodation at Murray Valley Resort in Yarrawonga, a trailer load of wood from the Benalla Lions Club, a $50 voucher from Studio 8 Hair Salon and a $200 voucher from Harry Brown wine, beer and spirits.
“Other donations are also coming in from Mitre 10, Reece, Aggy’s, Zeus, Coles and more.”
Book your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment, and bring your dancing shoes on the night
There will be sensational food, popular country music, rock ’n’ roll and easy listening dinner music.
The Rock n Roast event will take place at Benalla’s Lakeside Community Centre, known locally as the Glasshouse, on Saturday, March 7 from 5.30pm.
