Moving your body is one effective way to warm up in winter, and the Cool Cat Rockers are offering locals a chance to learn a fun new skill while getting their heart rates healthily up.

After their six-week beginners’ dance class course at the start of the year proved a success, the rock and roll group will run another mid-year block, starting later this month.

Aspiring dancers need no experience or partner to join in the six lessons over six consecutive weeks, just casual clothes, comfy flat shoes, a drink bottle and a “fun attitude,” club member David Traeger said.

Participants will learn basic moves, footwork and handholds.

Each lesson costs $10, with the first one free.

One-hour lessons will be held from 6.45pm on Tuesdays, from July 22, at the Kialla Hall, 135 Central Rd, Kialla.

Beginners are invited to stay until 9.30pm to watch the later lessons to see the level of competence that can be achieved with rock ‘n’ rolling.
