The five-week-long celebration honoured senior residents and their vital role in the community.
The festival featured more than 40 free or low-cost activities across Benalla and surrounding districts – encouraging lifelong learning, creativity and connection among local seniors.
Benalla Rural City Mayor Bernie Hearn said the festival was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the contributions of residents in the region.
“The festival recognised and celebrated our seniors, encouraging connection and creating spaces where people of all ages feel valued and included,” Cr Hearn said.
“I’m proud of the diverse and engaging program we’ve delivered this year, and grateful to everyone who helped make it such a success.”
This year’s program featured a multicultural morning tea, an art trail, digital mentoring, fitness and wellness workshops, and community gatherings, all designed to inspire participation and joy.
Cr Hearn said council was committed to building an age-friendly community where people are active, engaged and valued.
“With more than 20 per cent of our population aged 60 and over, the seniors festival is a key part of council’s ongoing support for inclusion, wellbeing, and lifelong participation in the community,” Cr Hearn said.
The festival was delivered with support from the Victorian Government as part of the statewide Victorian Seniors Festival, in partnership with local councils, community organisations, and cultural groups.
