Seymour College receives funding for NDIS Navigator

Families in Seymour will soon be able to get the help they need to make the most of the National Disability Insurance Scheme funding and support available to them.

State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced the rollout of the NDIS Navigators program at Seymour College.

“Having this extra assistance in school will make it easier for parents and carers to access resources which will help build on a student’s strengths and abilities and thrive in their education,” she said.

The government is investing $21.2 million to introduce NDIS Navigators into all specialist schools by the end of 2025.

The NDIS Navigators will provide direct support to families and carers to help them navigate the NDIS, learn how to access the NDIS, prepare for plan reviews and access the proper support.

Disability Minister Lizzie Blandthorn said no family should miss out on the support it was entitled to.

“NDIS Navigators will help them find their way through what is a complex space,” she said.

Seymour College is one of the 30 schools that received the funding to hire a navigator to work with families.

“Families in Seymour now have access to the extra support thanks to the NDIS Navigators at Seymour College,” Ms Symes said.

“(It’s) making sure that students with additional needs can make the most of the services they need.”
