Shannon Goss with mum Tracy at a previous Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser she hosted.
Shannon said she was excited to raise so much for such an important cause.
“Thank you to everyone for your support over the last month and for all of your generous donations,” she said.
“I am so overwhelmed and humbled by all of the amazing people who showed up to my morning tea, and to all who dug deep and donated.
“Whether it was just popping in (Sunday) to drop off a plate of food, cash donation or just to say hi — thank you.
“I’m very grateful for the effort you all put in to be (at the morning tea), showing up to support such a wonderful cause.”
Shannon said that whether it was you or someone you know starting their diagnosis journey, having ongoing treatment or having lost someone to this dreadful disease, sadly cancer affects us all one way or another.
“But (on Sunday) we made a difference,” she said.
“Thank you for being part of that difference.
“By just popping down to Moira Club for a yummy home-baked treat and a cuppa, us all (coming) together and raising money for this wonderful cause has helped so many people...
“We have contributed to funding for research to be conducted to find alternative treatments and cures.
“We have helped fund children to have a sun-smart education.
“We have helped fund trained professionals for the support hotline.
“Whichever way you look at it, together we have made a difference. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”

The total raised, as of Monday morning, was $6675.
“The question is... do I keep the fundraising going for another week (until Sunday, June 1) and aim even higher to make it a square $7000?” Shannon said.
That was, of course, a rhetorical question and there is still time to donate.
