St Joseph’s Primary School Benalla celebrated the official opening and blessing of its new Middle and Senior Learning Centre on Monday, September 11.

Bishop Shane Mackinlay and Father Vijay Bandanadam blessed the building and led the celebration.
The Years 5/6 ‘Fire Carriers’ stood proudly as the talented school choir led the Sandhurst Acknowledgement of Country song.
The ‘Fire Carriers’ represent the school’s journey to reconciliation and help to educate the school community about the local Aboriginal story.
A school spokesperson said the official opening and blessing were very special moments for the entire St Joseph’s school community.
“It demonstrated how collaborative efforts can yield something wonderful for students,” the spokesperson said.
Catholic Education Sandhurst Limited executive director Paul Desmond spoke at the opening about the dedication that had gone into preparing the new building and conveyed to the students how fortunate they were to be learning in such an exceptional environment.

“The school’s patron saint, St Joseph, has taught us all about kindness, learning and facing challenges with courage,” the spokesperson said.
“The new Middle and Senior Learning Centre is a place where these values will flourish, where students will learn, explore and thrive in a supportive and innovative environment.
“The school extends its gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this process and appreciates the efforts of all those who joined in this special occasion.”
