It was a night to remember for six local young ladies and their families and friends as St Andrew’s Presbyterian and St John’s Anglican Churches came together to hold their Presentation Ball at the Corowa RSL Club on Friday, June 3.
It was the third time lucky for the debutants with COVID-19 restrictions postponing the event for two years. Despite the interruptions, the committee thankfully never gave up on hosting the special event with guests thrilled with the overall night.
A large crowd of family and friends were in attendance to support the six young ladies and their partners on their very special evening.
The Official Party consisting of guest speaker Mrs Vicki McDougall from The Brooke Richardson Don’t-txt-n-drive Foundation, The Venerable Peter Richards, Reverend Richard Keith and Mrs Karen Keith were piped into the club by the talented Dylan Forge.
Flower girls Cleo Bilney and Olive McMillan wore McGregor Tartan kilts, while the page boys Jasper Rhodes and Sonny Carpenter wore Black Watch Tartan kilts.
Mrs Karie Playford introduced each debutante and partner, describing the gowns and the interests and aspirations of each couple.
The debutantes were trained by Anthony Pepers from “Enjoy Dance”. After weeks of training, they presented their three dances which was followed by a dance with their parents who joined in for the Evening 3 Step.
It was a moment of great pride as debutantes and their partners presented themselves to the community. The traditional and modern dances on display were the result of many weeks of hard work and were greatly enjoyed by the crowd.
Amy Wenke and Lachlan McKenzie spoke on behalf of the Presentation Set and thanked everyone involved in making the evening so special.
Following their speeches, the presentation cake was cut by Teresa Marcuzzi and Vince Marcuzzi.
Features of the evening were the recital of the Ode to the Haggis by Mr Ron Tidd, who was piped into the presentation area with the burning haggis and an encore bagpipe performance by Dylan Forge.
Many thanks to all the parents and committee members who helped to make the night a great success.
