Locals were pleasantly surprised to see a large array of rally cars passing through ... and stopping.
Unbeknown to most of us, Deni had been added as a pit stop on the Beyond Bitumen Rally, raising money for BeyondBlue.
A pit stop usually leaves enough time for a toilet break and morning tea, but rally participants seemed to take a little longer in Deni on Saturday.
Many visited the Naponda Farmers’ Market and local cafes and shops, and cars were parked in the main street and attracted many head turns and questions.
And with 110 cars in the rally, the visitors trickled in for most of the morning.
The rally participants came to Deni from Echuca where they had set up camp Friday night, and were headed for the next overnight stop in Griffith.
The rally started with a dinner in Gundagai on Thursday night, with cars hitting the road Friday. It ended in Goulburn yesterday.
