Swanpool Cinema volunteer Deb Smith said it was always a pleasure to work with Anna Smith and the Benalla Shorts team.
“The films this year were particularly good,” Ms Smith said.
“I think the day was enhanced by having Mia and her entourage there.
"She spoke beautifully in the Q&A. She was asked about the role of director and producer.
“Hugo, her editor, was there and he gave great insight as to how they work and put the film together.
“Another filmmaker (Maggie Brittingham) did the Q&A via zoom, which was lovely and added an extra layer of interest about the film-making process.”
Ms Smith said as a grass roots initiative Benalla Shorts was the perfect partner for a community cinema like Swanpool.
“Screening the films out here also gives people from outside Benalla an extra opportunity to see these films,” she said.
And as a small community it was able to band together to arrange some accommodation for Mia and her team.
“One of our local ladies Marlies Tames, who is on the cinema committee, put her hand up to help,”Ms Smith said.
“She and her partner are very supportive of the cinema and were happy to put Mia and her team up for a few days.”
