It marks the end of a decade-long journey that has raised more than $23,000 and sparked countless conversations about men’s health and suicide prevention.
T-Bro’s initiative began in 2015, born from personal tragedy — the sudden loss of his best mate, Dylan, to suicide.
Then just 21, Tyler sought counselling, where he found inspiration from his counsellor, a fellow “Mo Bro”.
That encounter sparked the start of a movement.
“I just felt like I got punched in the guts,” Tyler said.
“I was lucky enough that the bloke I talked to was doing Movember.”
“He said, ‘You’re in a retail job where you get to chat to customers — they’ll see the mo on your face and that can start a conversation.’”
Tyler’s first fundraiser was a simple sausage sizzle outside Woolworths Benalla, raising $200.
His campaign truly hit its stride during the COVID-19 pandemic, when restrictions forced him to rethink his approach.
“I reckon COVID was one of the best things that happened to my Movember,” he said, with a grin.
Unable to host in-person events, he pivoted to a month-long community raffle, rallying local businesses to donate prizes.
The result was explosive — thousands raised, including a record-breaking $7500 last year.
This year, Tyler hopes to go out with a bang, aiming to surpass $10,000.
“I’ve always looked to beat last year’s record,” he said.
The 2025 raffle features $5500 worth of prizes donated by businesses across Benalla, Shepparton and Euroa — including a grand prize of a year’s supply of Better Beer, valued at around $3500.
Tyler insists the credit belongs to the community.
“I’m just the middleman, really. It’s everyone out there who donates and supports that makes it what it is.”
After this milestone year, Tyler plans to retire the raffle, choosing to end on a high note.
But the moustache — and the message — will live on.
“I’ll still grow the mo every year to support Movember and get the word out there,” he said.
“It’s okay not to be okay. It’s not weak to seek help.
“The mental health professionals are there for you — no judgment, just support.”
The final raffle draw and the shave-off will take place at Rose City Mowers, T-Bro’s family business, on December 1.
