A Total Fire Ban means no fires may be lit in the open, and all fire permits are automatically suspended for the duration of the ban.
These conditions can cause fires to start easily and spread rapidly, posing a serious threat to life, property and the environment.
NSW RFS Mid Murray Zone encourages all residents, landholders and visitors to take the forecast conditions seriously and prepare accordingly.
During a Total Fire Ban:
• No solid fuel (wood, charcoal) barbecues or campfires are permitted
• No burning off is allowed
• All fire permits are suspended
• Activities that may generate sparks or heat, including certain machinery use, should be reconsidered and conducted with extreme caution
The NSW RFS urges the community to:
• Review their bush fire survival plans
• Stay informed through local updates and official channels
• Report any unattended or out-of-control fires immediately to Triple Zero (000)
NSW RFS crews will be on heightened readiness throughout the period of increased fire danger.
