In late August, trains will not stop at Benalla station as works part of Tranche 2 of the Inland Rail Project progress.

From Sunday, August 23 to Sunday, August 30, trains on the Albury line will not stop at the station, with replacement coaches in place for local commuters.
Trains on the Albury line also won’t be stopping in Euroa.
In Benalla, work is being undertaken to upgrade the station precinct, with construction of the new western platform, access ramps and stairs occurring throughout July.
Until July 31, works are also being carried out to construct a new pedestrian underpass and lift shafts, demolish the station vehicle access ramps, construct the new station car park, install new street lighting and remove vegetation.
With Tranche 2 works under way, 10 of the 12 Inland Rail enhancement sites on the Beveridge to Albury section are now able to accommodate double-stacked freight trains.
These include the completed Tranche 1 sites at Barnawartha North, Wangaratta, Glenrowan, Seymour (Seymour-Avenel Rd), and current Tranche 2 projects at Wandong, Broadford (Hamilston St and Short St), Seymour (under the Hume Fwy), Euroa and Benalla.
The new platform at Benalla Railway Station is nearing completion.
The two remaining sites are Broadford’s Marchbanks Rd bridge and the Tallarook site under the Hume Fwy, which will be double-stacked ready before the end of the year.
“There’s still more work to do on the B2A project, but having 10 out of 12 sites ready for double-stacked operation is a great achievement,” an Inland Rail spokesperson said.
“Local people, with local expertise, are important to help deliver the project, and we’re committed to boosting their skills base and the capability of regional suppliers through delivery of this project.
“The Victorian project is on track to be completed in 2027, and we thank all of our local communities for their patience and understanding while these important works are carried out.”
