Peering over the garden wall.
Perfumed roses in pink and red.
Lavender growing beside the shed.
Pansies smiling from their pot,
Green ferns laze in a shady spot.
Chinese lanterns guide the way
To petunia beds in bright array.
Bulbs sprouting under trees,
Windflowers dancing in the breeze.
Colours, scents and sights galore.
A world of wonder outside the door.
A little dab of imagination,
Garden tools and determination,
Cuttings from some friends you know.
You’d be surprised how fast they grow.
Birds will come in feathered vests
To stay awhile and build their nests.
King parrots will expect a feed,
So be prepared to buy some seed.
Add water, mulch and compost too
And there’s a garden made by you.
Now you’ve achieved all these things
Experience the joy your garden brings.
Ode to Victoria by Don B
Used to call us the Big V once
Now more like the Covid dunce
You wait and see
And tomorrow we'll be top of the tree
