The Deniliquin Genealogy Society is hosting a one-day demonstration on using the Family Tree Maker software - the world’s most popular tool for family history recording.
The presentation is being delivered with support of Victorian GUM (Genealogists Using Microcomputers) Inc, and will be held at the Edward River Library on Thursday.
Deniliquin Genealogy Society president Val Hardman VicGUM is a valuable resource for anyone researching their roots in the digital age.
“If you are into computer genealogy, then GUM can help you,” she said.
VicGUM was established in 1984, and is an association of family history researchers using computers.
With a national membership of about 500, it is Australia’s leading association helping genealogists better use their computers, associated equipment and genealogy programs as part of their family history interest.
“This session is open to the public - anyone who is interested in recording their work.”
The workshop will run from 10am to 3pm, and the cost is $5 for Genealogy Society members or $10 for non-members.
Bookings are essential, and are being taken in person at the library or by calling 5898 3100.
Bookings can also be made through Mrs Hardman by calling 0402 443 393 or email valhard@bigpond.com.
