Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said hundreds of kilometres of road across the state had been repaired, resurfaced or rebuilt to keep Victorians moving, delivering more reliable journeys for local drivers, tourists and freight operators.
“We’ve used this unprecedented investment to repair and rebuild hundreds of kilometres of roads across the region,” she said.
“We know there’s still more to do, that’s why the Victorian Budget 2025-26 will invest a record $976 million into future repairs and maintenance of our roads.”
Major road rehabilitation works have been undertaken on sections of key routes across the region drivers travel on daily, including the Goulburn Valley Hwy and Midland Hwy.
Crews have inspected roads and responded to calls from local communities – 24 hours a day, seven days a week, repairing almost 40,000 potholes and resurfacing kilometres of roads across northern Victoria.
Thousands of signs have been repaired and replaced, more than 12,000km of roadside grass has been mowed and slashed, and almost 800 safety barriers have been repaired on major highways in the region.
Almost 70 per cent of the works undertaken during this major road maintenance blitz have been directed to Victoria’s regional areas, including works to repair the Great Alpine Rd.
As part of more works kicking off later this year, crews will focus on delivering long-term solutions to repair Victorian roads – with rehabilitation and resurfacing works prioritised to protect the longevity of our road network for years to come.
