Echuca yoga teacher Leanne Holmberg spent this International Yoga Day the same way she spends every other day — with a daily dose of yoga.

“I really think the mental health aspect and the peace it brings to you cannot be overstated and that is why I have practised yoga for many years,” she said.
“The mental health benefits it brings and the state of calm is the most beneficial thing you can do.”
Celebrated annually on June 21, Ms Holmberg said International Yoga Day was a good time to acknowledge what daily yoga practice can do to improve wellbeing.
“The essence of yoga is body, mind, life and keeping balance,” she said.
“It’s like a present to yourself.”
She said she had taught a wide range of people from all age groups ranging from primary and secondary children to people in their 70s and 80s.
“They all have found benefits from practising yoga in creating a safe, calm space for themselves,” she said.
“If everyone can build it into their daily life, even if it’s just breathing techniques, they would be better off.”
The theme for this International Yoga Day was Yoga for Humanity.
Yoga Spot hold classes are held in Echuca, Rochester and Elmore.
