Police officers spotted a small group riding motorbikes on Wyndham St and in the old Maude St mall while they were monitoring the Safe City Camera Network on Wednesday, April 8.
Among them was one rider who police allege rode dangerously close to people walking in Maude St.
Police in cars were then deployed to the area to look for the riders.
When they stopped one rider, he jumped from his motorbike and ran from police.
He was arrested on Stewart St.
He allegedly had not been wearing a helmet, was unlicensed and the motorbike was not registered.
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with several offences and will face a Children’s Court at a later date.
His motorbike was also impounded for 30 days.
He is the third motorbike rider to have their motorbike impounded in Shepparton in less than a week, with all three riding while they didn’t have a licence and the bikes were not registered.
Police impounded another motorbike that was being ridden in Wyndham St about 7pm on Friday, April 3.
The teenager riding this motorbike was also allegedly not wearing a helmet.
A 16-year-old Shepparton boy will be charged on summons with riding an unregistered vehicle, riding unlicensed and failing to wear a helmet, and will appear in a Children’s Court at a later date.
In another incident, police stopped a man after he was allegedly riding erratically on Verney Rd in Shepparton North on Saturday, April 4.
A 25-year-old Shepparton man will be charged on summons with riding while disqualified and riding an unregistered vehicle, to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
