Lennie Hayes-Green, 21, of Mooroopna pleaded guilty in the Shepparton County Court Koori Court division to dangerous driving while pursued by police, conduct endangering life, conduct endangering people and two counts of theft.
He also pleaded guilty to summary charges of contravening a bail condition, refusing an oral fluid test, committing an indictable offence while on bail, and dealing with property suspected to be the proceeds of crime.
The court heard a co-accused man stole a Toyota Kluger from Mooroopna on July 8, while that man and a second man stole a Ford ute from Toolamba.
The two vehicles were spotted driving in convoy at 12.19pm that day, with both taking off when police tried to stop them.
At 2.10pm Hayes-Green was driving the Ford ute, when he dropped the co-accused to steal a silver Pulsar from Shepparton East.
The white Ford was found dumped less than 20 minutes later, with Hayes-Green seen getting into the Nissan Pulsar.
The next day, police spotted Hayes-Green driving the Pulsar in Moama about 12.30pm, as he accelerated away from them on the Cobb Hwy, overtaking trucks on the shoulder of the road.
Police clocked Hayes-Green driving at 120km/h, before he crossed on to the wrong side of the road and drove at a police vehicle, swerving only 1m away from the police to avoid a collision.
Ten minutes later Hayes-Green drove fast and directly into oncoming traffic, only swerving to avoid collisions at the last minute.
Police gave chase again after spotting him trying to hide the car in a shed at Cummeragunja.
About 20 minutes later, Hayes-Green drove off the road and at a police officer who had to run to safety to avoid being hit after setting up stop sticks at the intersection of Cummeragunja and Barmah Rds.
Hayes-Green again drove across the road at a police vehicle, before swerving at the last minute, within a metre of police.
Police continued to pursue the Pulsar at high speeds until Hayes-Green pulled into traffic and drove at a member of the public, causing the pursuit to be called off.
At 2.56pm, a police air wing spotted the car in Kyabram, with police on the ground unsuccessfully trying again to pull it over.
The Air Wing continued to track the vehicle for 90 minutes as it continued to cross on to the wrong side of the road and have near misses with other civilian vehicles, forcing them off the road as he drove through Stanhope and on to Mooroopna and Shepparton.
In Shepparton Hayes-Green continued to drive on the wrong side of the road at times, through red lights, and on a footpath — narrowly missing a pedestrian.
At 3.50pm he drove on to the wrong side of the road, directly at an oncoming police car, which had to swerve on to the shoulder to avoid being rammed.
Police eventually caught up with the car after it stopped at a house in McCracken St in Shepparton at 4.35pm.
Hayes-Green was arrested hiding behind a television inside the house, while his passenger was arrested in Wilmot Rd after a short chase on foot by police.
In court, Hayes-Green took part in a sentencing conversation with First Nations elders as part of the Koori Court process.
He was remanded in custody to return to court in October for the prosecutor and defence to put forward their legal arguments in the case.
