Less than three weeks after surgery for syndesmosis suffered in a round-26 loss to the Dolphins, Walker on Monday completed all activities at Roosters training before cameras were ushered away from Allianz Stadium.
The Queensland State of Origin playmaker even skipped and lunged on the ankle with no apparent discomfort.
When speaking after Saturday night's 46-10 win over the Roosters, coach Trent Robinson said he was "pretty confident" Walker would play.
If Walker is fit, it would leave the Roosters with close to their best possible side on the field with only prop Blake Steep out injured.
But it would also leave Robinson with a call to make on Savala, who has filled in admirably at five-eighth for the past two games with Walker out.
Savala, 24, has spent much of this year playing centre, but Billy Smith impressed there against the Sharks.
The other option would be for Savala to be on the six-man bench as injury cover.
"I'll just put my best foot forward, and where that's going to be I'm not too sure just yet," Savala told AAP.
"I am sure Robbo will have a chat with me and a few of the boys.
"If I'm thrown out there (at centre) and that's what Robbo wants for the team, then I am going to go out there and go after it.
"Obviously I love playing in the halves, my preferred position.
"But it is a prelim final so we're going to put our best team out there, whatever Robbo sees fit, and we're going to go all for that."
The humble team man would be happy to just be included in the match-night squad as the Roosters chase a first grand final berth since defending the title in 2019.
Despite always being a natural halfback, Savala has cheered the arrival of No.7 Daly Cherry-Evans at the Roosters this year, taking it as a chance to learn from the star veteran.
"You get a different view of the game playing different positions. Centre was good fun this year, playing that position," Savala said.
"Robbo tested me in pre-season at a couple of different positions. I trained a bit there and got some reps in, so when I was there I didn't feel out of my depth."
Walker returning against the Dolphins four weeks after sustaining such a serious injury in a Kulikefu Finefeuiaki tackle would be a miraculous comeback.
It would also be a huge boost after the Roosters snapped a four-game losing streak with their 46-10 win over the Sharks.
"We still felt we played some good footy the week before against Penrith. We just put it all together against the Sharks," Savala said ahead of Tuesday's team naming.
"We got the result we were looking for, but we're not going to rest on our laurels."
