Benalla Lawn booked its spot in the division one grand final after easily beating Euroa Lawn, eight rubbers to one.
The home side was superbly led by Karyn Fraser, whose three appearances resulted in three dominant victories, while Benalla’s only loss for the day came about in a close 6-8 defeat.
Benalla will now face Avenel White in the decider, after the minor premiers beat Avenel Red in the semi finals, seven rubbers to two.
● Following on from their club’s division one victory, Benalla Lawn’s division two team also progressed to its respective grand final after outplaying Swanpool in the semi finals.
Benalla comfortably sealed the match seven rubbers to two, with their doubles play particularly strong.
Leading the way was Benalla’s Faye Mollison and Vincent Branigan, who teamed up for a 8-1 doubles belting, while Mollison joined Tom Pitty in winning all three of their respective matches.
● In the round’s most thrilling contest, Benalla Gardens sneaked into the division three grand final after earning a greater game differential than their opponents, Avenel.
With Avenel leading the contest five rubbers to three ahead of the final doubles match, though remaining level on 52 games each, all Benalla needed to do was win the match to best Avenel on games won.
And win they did, with Natalie Joinbee and Travis Cook sealing the team's victory with a 8-6 doubles triumph.
In hindsight, a fourth rubber victory to Benalla’s Cook and Terry Nowland proved most vital to the contest after the pair beat their rivals, 8-2.
The Gardens will now turn their attentions to their grand final match against Longwood Lawn, who belted Violet Town in their semi final contest, seven rubbers to two.
