At the league's AGM held on Wednesday night, chairman David Roff announced the competition had lost $28,099 in a year where all senior sport was cancelled, and just one round of junior football was played.
But the league remains in a strong position going forward, with more than $250,000 of nett assets, and a plan in place for an April start to a 2021 season with all clubs taking part.

Roff said all decisions made during the season were with a mind of returning to the field in 2021.
“During the current pandemic, the GVL's number one priority has continued to be the health and wellbeing of its supporters, players, umpires, officials, partners, volunteers and committees and everyone across all our local communities,” Roff said.
“Our ultimate aim was that we would head into 2021 with all 12 of our member clubs.”

Roff said the league's hand was forced to cancel the season due to the pandemic situation.
“The cancellation of the season was not a decision we made lightly,” he said.
“We recognised the potential health implications within our communities, the financial burden of a shortened season to both our clubs and the league, the additional requirements of running the competition.
“We waited as long as we possibly could, but ultimately had to make the call-in order to provide clarity to everyone at all of our clubs.”

League operations manager Jo Spencer said planning was well under way for the resumption of competition.
“Whilst the 2020 season has been different to any we have ever known, we continue to support our clubs and have begun our planning for 2021 with all 12 clubs ready to participate,” Spencer said.
Roff was reelected as chairman, with Roff, Amy Marshall, Sandy Witham and Jacqui Hudgson all returned for a further two years.
Hudgson was elected deputy chairperson, replacing Mick Williams in the role.
Williams will remain on the competition's board.
