As per the previous game, the two day format for the under-14s is a 20/20 each weekend.
The Deni Rhinos team selected four debutantes this week with Chance Bennett, Jhett Bullivant, Mitchell Grimwood and Daniel Burn all playing their first game for the club.
Katamatite won the toss and elected to bat.
Whilst the Rhinos were lively in the field and bowled some tidy spells, they couldn’t shake the opening partnership and the Katty side who finished their 20 overs 0/86.
Ted Wren and debutant Daniel Burn opened the batting for the Rhinos.
The nerves were very active for Daniel but he kept calm and added an important eight runs for his team.
An amazing effort for a first time player, who is only 10 years old.
The boys managed to see off Katamatite’s opening bowlers before they returned to the sheds bringing Charlie McCallum and Oscar Wren to the crease.
Charlie and Oscar ran hard between wickets and made use of the fast outfield to build a healthy total for the team.
Charlie finished 27 not out, and Oscar 17 not out.
Deni are 2/70 from 20 overs, 16 runs behind Katamatie.
The match will continue next weekend.
