Goorambat 10.5 (65) def. by Moyhu 16.6 (102)
The senior game against Moyhu was played in slippery conditions with a little rain in the first quarter.
Both teams fought hard at the ball and it was always going to be a great contest with the boys lifting for Travers Nolan’s 300th game.
Along with an illustrious career for Goorambat, he has has been a league medallist, a three-times premiership player with two times as premiership captain, coach, a committee member, and in the past few years he has been umpiring the reserves games.
Nolan has also taken on the duties of player-coach for three years and continues to serve the club as football manager.
Congratulations to Nolan on a great football career so far, and he proved with his game that he is not quite finished yet.
Sam Gladstone played a great game in defence along with Dylan Beavis back into the side after some time away with a new addition to the family.
Goorambat made it hard for Moyhu on the day at ground level with Sully Malay playing his best game of the year with strong physical play from Cooper McCoy around the contests.

A-grade
Goorambat 38 def. Moyhu 35
Goorambat came up against Moyhu over the weekend and was able to come away with the win.
It was a tough battle for the Bats as Moyhu was tall and fast.
The game started off even with the Bats up by one goal at quarter-time.
Goalers throughout the game rotated around with Ally Ellis and Jenna Brunner starting off together and showed strong movement in the circle.
Kylie Relf and Ella Sheehan finished the game off in goals for the Bats.
Ella was a key asset to the bats with height and rebounded exceptionally well.
The Bats were five goals up at half-time and continued the lead to be up by seven goals going into the last quarter.
Moyhu was no pushover and not going down without a fight.
The Bats defenders had their work cut out with Brittany Button and Nikki Wallace fighting hard for an intercept and trying to create turnovers.
Ally Ellis was swung back down in defence for some height and was a key helper to the usual duo.
Amelia Gall, Carli Hogan and Sarah Osborne set up a lot of defensive pressure.
Overall the Bats were able to hang on to the win, winning by three goals.

Reserves
Goorambat 2.3 (15) def. by Moyhu 12.17 (89)
The reserves had a good game against Moyhu on Saturday even if the scoreboard did not reflect this.
The Bats had plenty of the ball on the day but did not get the score on the board.
Todd Wapling played a great defensive game down back turning a lot of Moyhu’s forward entries around to set up his teammates with some great kicking, along with Josh Heylbut picking up plenty of the ball in the middle.
Peter (Cheech) Cochrane continued his great form along with Dallas Spencer back into the side, both lifting teammates with great play.
The highlight of the game was a great goal by Chris Adamo.
Best players: Todd Wapling (Bouwmeesters Bakery), Josh Heylbut (Royal Hotel), Peter Cochrane (Benalla Bowls Club), Dallas Spencer (Club Dinner), Declan Lawford (Sports Power), Max Buckley (CrossFit Hustle Crew).

B-grade
Goorambat 41 def. Moyhu 30
Round 19 saw the Bats take on Moyhu for the second time this season.
Moyhu came out firing, getting a jump on the Bats in the first few minutes.
Defenders Maddi Thomas and Georgia Thomson produced opportunities for attack to chase their run back to be even at the first break.
Attack in the second quarter saw some flow from Tiffany Kirkpatrick and Hannah Botta feeding for Jacinta Beavis going into the half-time break with the lead.
Fresh legs and drive through the mid-court of Jo Gall and Erin Hernan kept the third quarter square.
The last quarter saw some tired players and possession was not easily controlled from both teams.
Goorambat’s defence was strong all game and gave Moyhu a hard time transitioning to score and the Bats took the win.

B-reserve
Goorambat 35 def. Moyhu 22
B-reserve started strong against Moyhu and with a new starting line-up the girls showed improvement.
Kate Nolan and Elise Nolan combined well in defence with plenty of intercepts and rebounds.
Carissa Parrant and Georgia O’Brien worked hard defensively and created great drives and feeds in attack with Chloe Trevena who played her 100th club game.
Abby Hammond and Emma Dowdell had their best games for the season in goals moving and holding strong.
A tumble during the last saw Emma come off and Kate come into shooting but that did not dent the girls spirit.
Hayley Marciniak went from playing a strong wing defence to going to goalkeeper to show her strength and versatility.
Overall, a great game played by both teams, and a good win by the Bats.

C-grade
Goorambat 49 def. Mohyu 26
Last time the Bats came up against Moyhu they gave the side a great challenge and this week Goorambat was ready for a fight.
As expected, Moyhu came out and made the Bats work hard.
All the girls worked hard and came together as a team to build on their score through every quarter to come out on top at the end of the day.

Under-15s
Goorambat 14 def. by Mohyu 35
Off to a slow start, the young Bats took the first half to warm up and get going.
Although wet, Moyhu came out firing, causing Goorambat to turn over the ball.
In the second half it was a totally different game.
The Bats played like they know they can, and the crowd witnessed intercepts, excellent defence and transitions down the court.
Ella Bast led the way with her movement off the ball and increasing her shooting accuracy, Yolly Bourke continued to work hard in the circle trying to get the ball.
There was good feeding into the circle by Ruby Richardson, Libby Renkin, Claudia Kelly and Issy Defazio, and when the ball was able to get to the Moyhu shooters Malaika and Eleanor kept busy.
A very impressive second half which the girls will continue to work on at training this week.
