Brittany Button and Nikki Wallace again combined really well defensively, making it difficult for the Whorouly girls to score.
Amelia Gall showed excellent leadership and created excellent passages of play from defence to attack with Mackenzie Wilkinson and Narissa Drane also working hard to create opportunities for the Bats through the mid-court. Whorouly, a very well-disciplined team, brought the Bats’ momentum to a stop in the third quarter.
It was a tough day to be a shooter. The Whorouly girls didn’t stop contesting every ball and put more than enough pressure on the shooter Ally Ellis and Kylie Relf.
Unfortunately things didn’t fall in favour of the Bats and they were unable to regain control of the game. However there were some very exciting passages of play that make the Bats excited for what’s to come.
Final score: Goorambat 32-Whorouly 42
Awards:
Best on — Brittany Button — Goorambat Railway Hotel
Second — Nikki Wallace — Bare Aesthetik
Third — Amelia Gall — Munro & Sargeant
B-grade netball
The game started intense with the first goal taking place a good three minutes into the first quarter.
Both teams worked well defensively and made goalers work extremely hard to get the opportunity to have a shot. Maddie Thomas and Georgia Thomas had their best games but accurate shooting of Whorouly didn’t leave many opportunities once in the ring.
Fairly even after first quarter, court pressure and intensity grew, a few great passages of play from mid-courters Hannah Botta and Jo Gall along with Chelsea Bamford fed to Chelsea Beavis in goals well.
Unfortunately just some one percenters let Whorouly get the jump on the scoreboard and an injury disrupted the flow allowing Whorouly to take advantage of the girls settling into the line-up.
Bats hope to bounce back with a stronger and better start next week at home again.

This week our very new B-Reserve side came up against a well-oiled Whorouly. It was a tough day out but the Bats showed some good patches of play.
In a best on-court effort Abby Hammond stepped up against some strong defenders, leading and moving around the ring well and capitalising on every chance she had to score.
Hayley Marciniak and Hannah Coote earned themselves second and third best with their solid efforts in defence against some really strong shooters.
The girls now look to next week when they take on King Valley in the hope of securing their first win.

The game was always going to be a tough one for our girls. Not only were Whorouly well drilled but they towered over many of our players. Even against the odds the junior Bats tried hard and never gave up. The girls made some great leads, front cuts and applied some great defensive pressure came from Malaika, Eleanor, Ruby, Libby and Claudia. Issie looked after our centre passes while Amelia, Ella and Yolly worked hard in the attacking end. The girls were rotated in multiple playing positions, everyone applying themselves in each position.
