The senior side knew that the game against Whorouly was going to be a great test, and having had some good players coming back in, they did struggle to get their game together in the first half.
The stand outs for the boys were Kobe Black and Victor Butler both playing good games. The job was made a bit tougher with a couple of injuries to Matt Ryan and Dylan Beavis reducing the bench to one.
But credit to the boys in the last quarter as they stood up again to put Whorouly away and take the points, showing what they can achieve when they play for each other.

The reserves came up against a very good side at home against Whorouly on Saturday.
In conditions that were perfect for football, the back line was under pressure from the start, with Whorouly playing some good football.
The ever reliable Jeremy Sloan played a great game at full back and worked hard all game, playing as the general of the back line. Matthew Priest, Vaughan Kirk and Mitch Dansey continued their good form to keep the boys in touch.
Congratulations to Simon Briggs for playing his 150th club game on Saturday, you have been a great clubman both on and off the ground, so well done Simon.

We started well on the weekend against a very strong Whorouly side. Their defensive pressure was arguably the best we’ve faced in the league so far. We were even at half time and only down by two at three-quarter time.
Nelle Cousins created plenty of turnovers for us in defence while our shooters Michele Button and Kylie Relf shot well down the other end.
In the end we were just physically out played by Whorouly, but are ready to bounce back next week and work on our game.

B grade started strong against Whorouly and the game was tight right until the end.
Aneiki Pierce and Sophie Hammond combined well together with strong shooting from them both, while Grace Handley ran hard in the mid court applying great defensive pressure.
Madison Dunne showed great improvement on the court with her height putting pressure on the attack, and Carli Brennan showed her experience in the mid court and goals to keep encouraging her teammates and provided great feeds into the ring.
The last quarter proved costly and the Bats’ one-percenters let Whorouly get away with a five-goal win.
Best: Carli Brennan (G & S Gall Award), Grace Handley (Advanced Ag Thursday Night Dinner Award), Madison Dunne (Hume Solar Drink Award)
B Reserve

The B reserve side hit the ground running this week.
Midcourters Abby Hammond and Ella Woods combined and fed tremendously to the movement of goalies Erin Hernan and Kate Nolan. Nolan (16) and Hernan (20) made Whorouly work hard all game as they did so well for positioning to minimise mistakes.
The first quarter saw the Bats in the lead with endless effort and turnovers from defenders Brooke Haddrell and Alyssa Priest.
The game continued to be close with defenders Chelsea Cole, Alyssa and Brooke providing great drive from defence making for an open flowing attack end.
The Bats didn’t take the foot off with fresh legs of Kirby Davis making the experienced Whorouly team work even harder and they weren’t giving up. It was a close tussle to the end with the Bats holding composure and coming away with the win.
Well done ladies.
Best: Abby Hammond (Muscle Mend Award), Erin Hernan (Royal Hotel Award), Chelsea Cole (Hume Solar Drink Award)

The girls came out strong, working well as a team, with the addition of Molly Martin in the mid court supporting the shooters and feeding into the ring nicely.
Versatility from Pippa Martin and Molly saw themswitching from mid court to defence when needed.
As the game continued the defence from Whorouly proved too strong, turning the ball over, and accurate shooting from their goalers saw them secure the lead at the end of each quarter.

The girls came out this week in a much better head space and a lot more switched on ready to take on the Whorouly girls.
Some steady movements in the midcourt had the girls on the board early with Havarna Long shooting well and keeping steady feet on the court.
With the height of Whorouly team, Goorambat girls knew they couldn’t go over the top with their passes.
Some great front cuts and drives in the midcourt by Estelle Doig, Emma Hall and Mackenzie Roberts saw the girls move the ball well.
Chloe Culhane and Evie Ellis made it hard for the Whorouly girls to score and the defence these girls played all game was incredible to watch, working and coming together as a team.
The second quarter was their strongest by far all season with some great shooting from Meika Smith and Alarna Button. The girls continued to work together to clear and drive hard all game. With less shuffling of positions the girls played more of a steady game which was great to see.
Best: Evie Ellis (Hume Solar Canteen Award), Mackenzie Roberts (Sports Power Award), Emma Hall (Early Bird Award), Estelle Doig (Spot 4 Ice Cream Award)
