The reserves were a little undermanned on Saturday against a very strong reserves side in North Wangaratta on North Wangaratta’s home ground, with pressure on the backline from start to finish.
Todd Haslam was the standout for the boys in the ruck and with hard work around the ground getting to positions to allow a great target for the team moving forward.
The boys tried their best to get into the game with the scoreboard not reflecting their effort, Sean Lemmer was dangerous up forward finishing with two goals supported by Haider Alhasnawi and the evergreen Shane Richardson.

The first half of football for the seniors against North Wangaratta on Saturday was one the boys would like to forget, as they weren’t in the game at all with no desire to win the contest.
The boys did improve after the half-time break, led by Darcy Edgar in the ruck with support from Jamie Dunne winning the ball, while Alex Maloney tried his best down back.
Sully Malay was dangerous around the ball, while Simon Briggs tried hard and presented as a target up forward along with Aaron Blackburn for the boys.

The young bats started well going goal for goal with North Wang in the first quarter.
With a few rotations, trying girls in new positions, we saw some good transitions down the court, where players were able to lead and create options down the court.
The goalers started to combine well and was able to convert their shots.
The girls stayed close in each quarter, but the score did not reflect the effort made by the team.

Under-17
North Wangaratta 44 def Goorambat 35
The baby Bats started on the back foot with North Wang taking advantage of a few missed passes and shots, taking the lead at quarter time by four.
Midcourt Charli Button and Molly Martin and goalers Sophie Hammond started to sink up and showed some great court flow and adapting to some tight defence taking the gap back to three at half-time.
Defensively the pressure was fantastic from Lacey Carter and Alyssa Preist giving plenty of opportunities that didn’t quite get capitalised on.
Accurate shooting from North Wang saw them take the win. Baby Bats played a terrific contested game and will take plenty away for there following game next week.

B-Reserve
North Wangaratta 32 def by Goorambat 40
After a tough week last week the B-Reserve girls came into the game with a full team back ready to take on North Wangaratta.
From the first whistle the girls were supportive of each and worked hard for the ball.
Kate Nolan moved really well in the ring providing plenty of options all four quarters. Kate provided lots of talk to her teammates.
Hayley Marciniak play a great defensive game taking on any feedback given to her by her teammates. Hayley provided lots of defensive pressure in the ring making the North Wangaratta shooters work hard.
Returning player Kobi McDonald played hard in WD with arms over the ball and great drives working the ball back down to the attackers.
The B-Reserve girls were proud of themselves after their first win for the season and cannot wait to work hard for another.

B-Grade
North Wangaratta 39 def by Goorambat 49
B-grade started a bit slow and took a bit to find rhythm with North Wang taking a five-goal lead after the first quarter.
A change up with the versatility of the team allowed a swap in midcourt and goaling with Chelsea Bamford and Chelsea Beavis moving into attack showing a good move for the scoreboard taking a one-goal lead into the half-time break.
Fresh legs of Tiffany Kirkpatrick saw some great feeding to the goalers who showed great accuracy scoring 16 goals for the quarter.
Defenders worked hard all day, Joey Gall with Georgia Thomson and Maddie Thomas once again showing great read on the play and adapting to the play North Wang was showing, they capitalised and positioned well for any opportunity of an intercept or rebound. Batters came away with a great win.

A-Grade
North Wangaratta 38 def by Goorambat 24
Goorambat continued its winning streak against North Wangaratta.
The Bats took control of the game having a steady lead throughout.
The shooters, Jenna Brunner, Ally Ellis and Kylie Relf were combing well and were under a lot of pressure from the North Wang girls.
Even though the bats maintained a 10-goal lead throughout the game it was not over when the North Wang girls got within four goals in the last quarter.
However, the Bats had disciplined defenders with Brittany Button and Nikki Wallace making it very difficult for the North Wang shooters to get it in the ring.
The defenders were well backed by midcourt players Amelia Gall, Mackenzie Wilkinson, Carli Brennan and Narissa Drane, who put a lot of pressure on ball creating a lot of turnovers and intercepts. Bats came away with a 12-goal win.
