Beautiful weather greeted us for our elimination final against Tocumwal, and the boys came out firing.
The first half was played with plenty of tackling pressure, clean ball movement, and strong football, with the Bears taking a commanding 50–15 lead into half time. Unfortunately, Pax suffered a broken arm in two places in the dying seconds of the second quarter.
The third quarter was a complete turnaround, with Tocumwal lifting their intensity and taking control of the momentum. After Mannix also suffered a broken arm, the boys were challenged to dig deep, heading into the final break with a 14-point lead.
The coaching staff reminded the boys of their ability and fight, and they responded brilliantly. The final quarter was exceptional, with the boys showing great composure, fighting for each other and producing outstanding football to run out 20-point winners.
A true character-building performance from our young Bears. We can’t wait to see who we face next!
Go Bears!

The Tungamah Fourths entered their elimination final full of confidence after a strong run into August and some impressive results against top sides.
Despite playing eighth-placed Picola United, the Bears knew finals football could be a different story. With late withdrawals from Picola, the game was reduced to 16-a-side with no wings.
Picola came out with a clear plan to slow Tungamah down, clogging the forward line with extra numbers. Despite this, Jameson Dickins managed two goals in the opening half, while the Bears kept Picola scoreless.
The boys continued to control the game, opening up a 24-point lead by three-quarter time before adding another two goals early in the final quarter to put the game beyond doubt. Picola added a couple of late goals, but the Bears had done enough to secure a comfortable first-final victory, with eight players making their finals debut.
Noah Lawless, after battling the flu all week, played a blinder, while Chase Jarjoura, Ryder Kelly and Finn Cummins were all prominent. Darcy Cummins was rock solid at full-back, and Jameson Dickins controlled his wing and hit the scoreboard.
Unfortunately, the win came at a cost, with our ever-dependable full-back Isaac McLarty going down early with a season-ending fractured kneecap.
A huge shout-out to Izzy and Maurz, we wish you both all the best with your recovery. The boys will be working extra hard for you for the rest of the year.
Go Bears!

C Reserve
Tungamah 25 def Tocumwal 24
This elimination final was intense from start to finish, with every player fighting hard for the win.
The aggression towards the ball was outstanding, while our strong defensive pressure rattled our opponents and helped us gain control early.
We maintained our composure throughout the first half and kept the same defensive combination on court, as the girls worked brilliantly together.
The second half was a nail-biter, with the scores remaining incredibly close. Despite the noise, pressure and intensity surrounding the game, the girls stayed focused, remained calm and continued to fight for every possession.
In the end, Tungamah held on to secure a thrilling one-goal victory.
What a fight from the C Res girls, well done!
