After a massacre at the hands of Euroa in round six, Benalla managed a much more competitive match against fourth-placed Shepparton Bears in round seven.
Despite continuing their losing streak for 2024, the Saints were able to both score more goals and hold their opponent to less this time around.
Shepparton scored eight unanswered goals to open its account in the first quarter, which was a deficit that the Saints never really came back from.
Benalla was not able to capture the lead for the rest of the game, and was forced to pay catch-up to the Bears’ onslaught.
The final score ended as Shepparton defeated Benalla comfortably 68-47.
Goal attack and shooter Bridget Hill and Chloe Elliott did their part for Benalla, scoring 24 and 23 goals respectively, increasing their goals by eight and 13 from the previous game.
Benalla will face Echuca in round eight at home which looks to be a challenge for the struggling Saints.
